Henry Street Settlement
Henry Street Settlement, a 127 year old social service agency situated on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Each year, Henry Street opens doors of opportunity for more than 50,0000 LES residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs. Today, our community’s most vulnerable residents--individuals and families experiencing homelessness, unemployed and low-income workers, undocumented workers, seniors, and public housing residents--are at high risk of being severely affected by COVID-19. Henry Street has a long history of building trust and working with these residents and is able to pivot in real-time to offer solutions that address their needs during times of turbulence—including serving as a community first responder during major crises such as the 1918 flu pandemic, the Great Depression, 9/11, and Hurricane Sandy. In the midst of today’s pandemic, Henry Street is leveraging our capacity and community embeddedness to serve on the front lines once again.
